Present Moment Awareness
The power is in the present moment. To me, the present moment is a lot like your connection to the internet. If you have a poor connection, then you can't access your software system and your programs. That's training attention, always coming back to the present moment.
Relationship With Our Thoughts
CBT looks at your thoughts and instead of letting them run amuck is to be able to control them or manage them. If you can get in charge of your thinking, then you will have more of a say over your emotional reaction and your physiology. The big distinction between CBT and mindfulness-based approaches is that in mindfulness you're not trying to control your thoughts, you are just being observant of them.
